about A-T WELTER, OWNER OF WELTER GUITARS
A-T studied precision machining in High School and at Lansing Community College. As part of the curriculum, he decided to design and construct his first guitar. Later, he studied guitar repair at the Galloup School of Lutherie in Big Rapids, Michigan, and was certified twice. Guitars have always been his fascination, and his musical passion drives his desire to maximize the potential of each instrument he touches. His specialized training started when he first decided to take the repair technician course at Galloup when he was 18, whereupon he was certified for guitar repair.
The following 4 years he continued working on guitars as a hobby. Not satisfied with how often opportunities to work on guitars presented themselves, and his level of repair knowledge, he decided to reenroll in the journeyman course at Galloup. During this time, he put together an electric bass and built an acoustic guitar completely from scratch as well as practiced more basic repairs on surrogate guitars in his free time. Upon completion of his journeyman course, he was again certified for guitar repair.
